I am a singer/songwriter in the "americountry"/progressive country musical genre. Keith Bradford, from KMA Records in Nashville, called my songs "americountry" as they combine americana lyrics set to a country band. KMA produced my latest cd, "Might Be Today."
My lyrics and delivery also differ from pure country. I put more emphasis on imagery than hook lines. I'm really not a country singer--more folkish. I have a number of influences--Prine, Cohen, Dylan Cash, Woody Guthrie. I have been told that these are often reflected in my lyrics and vocals. Influences are influences.
Above all, my lyrics are fresh and unique--a sound not found in today's country scene. My songs bring messages of simplicity to a hard world.
Besides music, I have been writing poetry for anthologies, text books, university journals, etc. for 30 years. Poetry requires a keen observation of the subtleties of life, and my songs are an extension of my poetry.
I truly love the lyric.....
